FAQ Part 3: after the session

Q: How long will it be before I receive my photos?
A: Processing time varies from shoot to shoot, depending on the length of your shoot, the quality of light, the number of shots taken and the amount of retouching required. Average processing time for in studio shoots is 7-10 days for a 1 hour shoot and between 2-5 weeks for wedding photography.

Q: What can you tell me about your retouching process?
A: Photo processing can be an extensive process. We first begin by importing RAW files from the camera and open them in a special program designed to handle Nikon RAW files, called "Capture NX". While in Capture NX, we make corrections to color balance, exposure levels and a few minor enhancements.

During this time, we delete photos that are out of focus, duplicate shots, or have some other undesired aberration.

From there, we export the files into 'TIFF' files and open them in another program called 'Adobe Lightroom' where we review the remaining shots in full resolution, weed out 'bad' shots that we may have missed the first time around, perform additional enhancements such as eye brightening, teeth whitening, blemish removal and adjust contrast/brightness and vibrancy.

Photos that require additional editing are then opened in a third program called 'Adobe Photoshop' and resaved. The photo is then reopened in Lightroom, final edits are made and the image is sharpened as needed and then converted to JPEG images.

We then resize the images and create an online slideshow using Photoshop and Adobe Flash and finally upload the images to our server and and create both a slideshow preview page for you and a print order page for you to order prints.

Lastly, we place all of your images in full resolution, as well as a flash slideshow on a DVD and mail it to the address on file.

Q: Will I be able to make prints at home?
A: All clients are given full personal reproduction rights for your photos for making prints at home or using a third party service.
