FAQ Part 2: the photo session

Q: what is your preferred style of shooting?
A: From Deacon Tyler: "If I were to put a fine point on it and sum it up in one word, it would be 'fluid'. Expanding upon that, my style of shooting is a nice mix of photojournalism, glamour, commercial and traditional, but I let the day unfold naturally and see where that takes me photo-wise.

I'm a firm believer in *not* 'forcing the day along'. A good example of this is a shoot in which we were planning to visit three locations. Location #1 goes fine and we move onto Location #2, where every photo is so incredible that it feel like my hands and cameras have turned into solid gold - leprechauns are dancing, butterflies are in everybody's hair and we're all laughing and having the time of our lives and I have ten more impossibly cool ideas - I'd rather not force everyone to stop :)"

Q: Will you help me pose?
Between Deacon Tyler and his assistant or co-shooter, we encourage natural looking poses that aren't forced or over-posed and will often share an idea or give a general guideline and see where that takes you. After the initial fear and nerves have worn off, you'll see how much fun photography can be and the shoot moves in a more dynamic direction.

We strongly encourage clients to bring ideas to their shoot and to spend some time posing in front of a mirror before your shoot. While shooting feel free to incorporate your own ideas and there's no need to wait for a cue to do so - have fun!

Q: Who will be at my session?
A: Unless otherwise indicated, Deacon Tyler will always be your principle photographer. Depending on your package size, he will accompanied by either a photography assistant who aids with posing, lighting and equipment manager, a co-shooter/assistant or a full time co-shooter plus assistant.

Q: Is there any circumstance that would require you to leave a wedding photo session early?
A: This rarely ever happens, however in the event that guests refuse to comply with the guest photographer policy in their contract, or we feel that our safety is at risk, we will immediately and without warning leave the premises. In general though, 99% of all shoots go off without a hitch and we're all going to have a great time!

Q: Would it be alright if my guests approached you for a personal or group shot?
A: Most definitely! We're all very approachable and strongly encourage guest interaction. After your shoot, you are given full personal reproduction rights and may distribute personal or group photos to friends and family members.
