Here’s an interesting fact about rattlesnakes: while snakes are active during the daytime and at night, one of their primary sources of food, rodents, mostly come out at night. It’s also much more difficult to see a rattlesnake at night, so at the end of our shoot together, when Brock and Ashley told me that they were standing in a pile of snake skins, it took vast reserves of courage not to leap into one of their arms, a la Scooby Doo (and the knowledge that at 6’1″ and 200 pounds I am rather difficult to carry did not hurt either).
We shot Brock and Ashley’s engagement photography session in the always incredible Nelson, NV, which is located just outside of Las Vegas. If you’ve never been there, I highly recommend checking it out this abandoned but well preserved Nevada ghost town. We had such an amazing time together that I’ve invited them into our studio for a bridal portrait session, which I am greatly looking forward to shooting!
Nelson is a wonderful location for a portrait session -it’s secluded, off beat, historical and the scenery around sunset is just incredible. I can’t recommend it highly enough and I look forward to our next shoot and would have LOVED to be their wedding photographer, if their date had been open for us! Congratulations in advance to Brock and Ashley and we’ll see more of these two in the near future!
