I love shooting senior portrait photography, especially when we work with a fun and energetic client such as Mariah. She wisely chose the Arts District in downtown Las Vegas for her senior portraits, where she turned heads and raised eyebrows with three stunning ensembles.
Location is everything when it comes to senior portraits; picking a spot with a good amount of variety in the backgrounds keeps the entire shoot feeling fresh and moving along much more quickly. We were pretty lucky – the entire day we could see angry clouds forming near downtown Las Vegas and on the way from our photography studio to the Arts District, a few fat raindrops hit our windshield. While we would love to shoot a senior portrait session in the rain, without proper waterproofing materials (*cough* garbage bags and rubber bands *cough*), we reckoned that our lights and battery packs probably wouldn’t enjoy getting soaked.
But aside from some gale force winds towards the end, the weather held out nicely and we got some fantastic shots. It was truly a pleasure working with Mariah for her senior portraits – she was telling us how she was taking college classes alongside her high school senior courses and there’s a word we use to describe this academic diligence: awesome!
